Prince Ned Nwoko’s good intention for Anioma escalates power tussle in Delta North District

By Justin Okpu.
The battle to free the good land (Anioma) from undue slavery, deprivation, marginalization and possibly extricating the “blessed people” from mismanaged resources, is currently underway in Delta North District.
Since, Senator Ned Munir Nwoko took the gauntlets of good governance to his people, it has become “taboo” to reignite the consciousness of people with a common destiny.
What’s certain about this people occupying the upper land of Delta State could be, that they seem to now understand the need to rekindle their self determine future, sustained development and a unified cultural heritage.
Before now, the multiples of legislators who had privileged position to represent Anioma people, had allowed their moments of glory dashed out from their hands, just because they want to stay in the good books of their sponsors, who momentarily reigned power control on the entire state.
What seems a major concern to those who want to remain relevant in the corridor of power, is the threat the Distinguished Senator Ned Nwoko poses if he succeeds the accomplishment of Anioma State Creation, power will be transited away and that would end their sustained selfish pact with the people’s detractors.
What is bad about good governance brought forth to Anioma people by Senate Nwoko ?
The Distinguished Senator Ned Nwoko, a privileged member of the “elite” 1999 constitution amendment committee, who is currently in Kano State along with his committee colleagues for a retreat, had stunned his party men and women on the unequal ability of the distinguished Senator Nwoko’s energy put on ensuring that good governance is brought to his people, the entire state and by extension, to Nigerians.
In just a year of representation at the upper legislative chamber of National Assembly, Prince Of The Good Land has been able to sponsor and presented high-net worth, people oriented bills namely;
i) SB 127; Waste Management & Malaria Eradication Agency (Establishment) Bill 2023.- Presented By Sen. Ned Nwoko On 28th November 2023.
i) SB 249: *Constitution Of The Federal Republic Of Nigeria 1999 (Alteration) Bill 2023*
– Presented By Sen. Ned Nwoko On 14th November 2023.
ii) SB 127: Waste Management & Malaria Eradication Agency (Establishment) Bill 2023.- Presented By Sen. Ned Nwoko On 28th November 2023.
iii) SB 346: Fire Arms Act (Amendment) Bill 2024
– Presented By Sen. Ned Nwoko On 20th February 2024.
The most astonishing of all *”the bills for act”* sponsored so far by the workaholic Senator, is the bill introduced on the floor of the Senate, seeking the creation of “Anioma State” from the current Delta State.
The Bill having passed its first reading, tagged therein and quoted as, “SB 346 – Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (Alteration) (A bill For An Act Proposing the Creation of Anioma State) Creation Of Anioma State Bill, 2023” the content therein is proposing the creation of Anioma State from the current Delta State, has passed its first reading at the Upper Chamber, as sponsored by Distinguished Senator Ned Nwoko.
This bill seeks to amend three sections of the 1999 Constitution to replace the word “36” with “37” to accommodate the new state and add “Anioma” immediately after “Delta” to the list of states.
The proposed Anioma State would comprise of the nine (9) local government areas namely, Aniocha North, Aniocha South, Ika North-East, Ika South, Ndokwa East, Ndokwa West, Oshimili North, Oshimili South, and Ukwuani, with Asaba designated as the state capital.
The Distinguished Senator Nwoko did not just present the bill, but also assiduously sustained tempo on the requisite processes toward the actualization of Anioma State Creation, irking those that would continue to have the district remain with the *”status quo antes”*
In their wildest dreams the bill that got detractors rattled, has unexpectedly attracted more Ndi-Anioma’s love toward the good intentions of their princely *”jewel”* son, who continued impressive moves to bring good governance the people of the northern district.
Many more successful oversight functions already made in the early stage of his legislative term, unarguably exposed the underperformance of former legislators, who at one time held the enormous opportunity to properly represent the people of Good Land.
It has dawn on those who benefited from vices committed against Delta North’s entire existence, on a false realization that Senator Nwoko now poses serious threat to their continued stranglehold on Anioma people.
The current smearing of the senator’s personality is an attempt to re-strategize for control of the Delta North political soul, despite unhealthy treatment of the Senator Ned Nwoko and his supporters.
Who’s ox is gored ? If Anioma State Creation Is Not Accomplished.
