The mystery of the sixth month (June) in the life of a Christian
By Nkem Okemiri
The month of June is the meeting point between the third and fourth Biblical months-Sivan and Tammuz.
Nations, states, organizations, families, and individuals may also count their sixth months from the day of their birth. All sixth months have common characteristics.
BIBLICAL PATTERNS FOR THE 6TH MONTH
Biblical patterns for understanding the sixth month are the sixth day of creation narrative, the sixth book and chapters of the Bible, the Bible books and chapters corresponding to the weeks and days in the month; and Bible passages mentioning the sixth month. The sixth month completes the first half of the year
The 6th Month is a sixth day of creation month. On the sixth day of creation, God commanded the earth to bring forth land animals (beasts, cattle, and creeping things); and then He made man in His image and after His likeness. He blessed man and gave him dominion of the other living creatures. This is a month of exercising dominion in the name of the Lord. It is a season to transcend the wicked, the crafty, and the foolish. This is a month of intense spiritual warfare.
The sixth month is a Book of Joshua month. Going through the sixth month of the year is like journeying through the sixth book of the Bible. The book of Joshua is the sixth book of the Bible and is applicable to the sixth month of the year. God gave Israel the Promised Land in the book of Joshua. He gave them dominion over the seven nations of the Canaanites. The sixth month is a season to fight for your inheritance. It is a season to drive out the enemies in your Promised Land. It is the season to possess your possessions.
The sixth month is a Song of Solomon 6 – Ezekiel 43 season. Going through the sixth month of the year is like journeying from the sixth chapter of Song of Solomon to the 43rd chapter of Ezekiel. It is the same as going from the fifth day of the 22nd week to the sixth day of the 26th week. As a prophetic season, the sixth month is Isaiah – Jeremiah – Lamentations – Ezekiel season. Isaiah is the 23rd book of the Bible and relates to the 23rd week (June 4-10). Jeremiah is the 24th book of the Bible and relates to the 24th week (June 11-17). Lamentations is the 25th book of the Bible and relates to the 25th week (June 18-24). Ezekiel is the 26th book of the Bible and relates to the 26th week (June 25 – July 1). The sixth month is a month of judgment and overthrows by the word of the Lord.
The sixth month is a Numbers 5-26 season. The fourth book of the Bible is the guiding light for the fourth 7 weeks of the year (May 28 – July 15). In a clear year, the sixth month runs from the fifth day of the fourth 49 days to the 34th day of the fourth 49 days. The sixth month falls within the fourth seven weeks of the year and expresses a significant portion of the fourth book of the Bible. The major events in the fourth book of the Bible happened within Numbers 5-26. They include the supply of manna, the prophesying 70 elders, the spying and rejection of the Promised Land, the rebellion of Korah and company, the vindication of Aaron, the failure of Moses, the death of Miriam and Aaron, the miracle of the bronze serpent, the defeat of Og and Sihon, the efforts of Balak and Balaam against Israel, and the second census. This means that we should watch against deception and overthrows. Most of the tests of the fourth seven weeks will come in the sixth month. This is a season to be watchful. Watch your thoughts and words; watch your attitude to people and circumstances.
The sixth month of the year is a sixth-seven-books-of-the-Bible month. Going through the sixth month is like going through the sixth seven books of the Bible in experiences. The sixth seven nooks of the Bible are Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi, Matthew, Mark, and Luke. It is within the sixth seven books of the Bible that you cross from the Old Testament to the New Testament. The sixth month, therefore, is a season to cross over from the old narrative to the new. It is a month of experiencing fulfillment of promises and prophecies. It is a month of going from pain to gain, from war to peace, from judgment to grace and mercy, from oppression to deliverance, from destruction to salvation, from despair to hope, and from sorrow to joy. This is a month of change of stories. It will not change from good to bad for you!
BIBLE PASSAGES THAT MENTION THE SIXTH MONTH
The Bible reveals four things about the sixth month:
It is for uncovering and unveiling secrets by the Spirit of God.
It is for getting to the root of problems
It is for repentance and returning to God.
It is a month of miracles and mysterious happenings.
- THE SIXTH MONTH IS FOR THE UNCOVERING SECRETS BY THE SPIRIT OF GOD
Ezekiel 8:1-6: And it came to pass in the sixth year, in the sixth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I sat in my house with the elders of Judah sitting before me, that the hand of the Lord GOD fell upon me there. [2] Then I looked, and there was a likeness, like the appearance of fire-from the appearance of His waist and downward, fire; and from His waist and upward, like the appearance of brightness, like the color of amber. [3] He stretched out the form of a hand, and took me by a lock of my hair; and the Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven, and brought me in visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the north gate of the inner court, where the seat of the image of jealousy was, which provokes to jealousy. [4] And behold, the glory of the God of Israel was there, like the vision that I saw in the plain. [5] Then He said to me, “Son of man, lift your eyes now toward the north.” So I lifted my eyes toward the north, and there, north of the altar gate, was this image of jealousy in the entrance. [6] Furthermore He said to me, “Son of man, do you see what they are doing, the great abominations that the house of Israel commits here, to make Me go far away from My sanctuary? Now turn again, you will see greater abominations.”
- THE SIXTH MONTH IS FOR GETTING TO ROOT OF PROBLEMS
Haggai 1:1-2, 4-6: In the second year of King Darius, in the sixth month, on the first day of the month, the word of the LORD came by Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying, [2] “Thus speaks the LORD of hosts, saying: ‘This people says, “The time has not come, the time that the LORD’s house should be built.”‘” [4] “Is it time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, and this temple to lie in ruins?” [5] Now therefore, thus says the LORD of hosts: “Consider your ways! [6] “You have sown much, and bring in little; You eat, but do not have enough; You drink, but you are not filled with drink; You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; And he who earns wages, Earns wages to put into a bag with holes.”
- THE SIXTH MONTH IS REPENTANCE AND RETURN
Haggai 1:13-15: Then Haggai, the LORD’s messenger, spoke the LORD’s message to the people, saying, “I am with you, says the LORD.” [14] So the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and worked on the house of the LORD of hosts, their God, [15] on the twenty-fourth day of the sixth month, in the second year of King Darius.
- GOD ENTERED THE WOMB OF A WOMAN IN THE SIXTH MONTH.
Luke 1:26-38: Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, [27] to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. [28] And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!” [29] But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was. [30] Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. [31] And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name JESUS. [32] He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. [33] And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.” [34] Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?” [35] And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. [36] Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren. [37] For with God nothing will be impossible.” [38] Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.

Prosecutors alleged Alison-Madueke, 65, was given “a life of luxury” in London from oil and gas industry figures seeking lucrative contracts in Nigeria, which has long grappled with mismanagement and corruption.
Madueke who served as petroleum Minister between 2010 and 2015 under then-president Goodluck Jonathan, was well the president of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries.

NHRC boss Ojukwu condemns death of Gen. Rabe Abubakar, backs state police to address insecurity
Dr. Tony Ojukwu, SAN, the Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), has condemned in the strongest terms the abduction and subsequent death of Retired Major General Rabe Abubakar while in bandits’ captivity, describing it as a grave violation of the right to life and personal security that demands urgent and systemic responses.
Ojukwu said the incident represents a disturbing escalation of insecurity in the country and a direct assault on the dignity and sanctity of human life.
A statement signed by the Director Corporate Affairs and External Linkages Fatimah Agwai Mohammed, quoted Ojukwu as saying the Commission received with deep sorrow the news of the General’s death, which occurred while he was held captive, despite reported efforts by the Katsina State Government and security agencies to secure his release.
He noted that every person, regardless of status or background, is entitled to the protection of the right to life, liberty, and security of person under the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and international human rights instruments to which Nigeria is a party.
He stressed that the abduction and death of a retired senior military officer underscores the extent to which insecurity has penetrated all levels of society, leaving citizens, including highly placed individuals, vulnerable to criminal violence.
The Executive Secretary expressed concern that schools, homes, and communities are no longer safe, and that the persistent threat of banditry and kidnapping continues to erode public confidence in the state’s duty to protect.
He stated that the Commission views the killing as not only a loss to the bereaved family and Katsina State, but a national tragedy that reflects the urgent need for a coordinated and rights-based response to insecurity.
The NHRC boss said the Commission believes that the conversation around the establishment of state police deserves serious and immediate consideration as part of a broader strategy to address insecurity.
He explained that decentralizing policing could bring security closer to communities, improve response time, and enhance local intelligence gathering, provided that such structures are created with strong legal frameworks, civilian oversight, and adherence to human rights standards to prevent abuse and ensure accountability.
The Learned Silk called on the Federal Government and security agencies to ensure that a thorough, independent, and transparent investigation is carried out to identify and bring to justice all those responsible for the heinous act.
He emphasized that accountability is essential to upholding the rule of law and to deter further violations, and urged authorities to strengthen measures for the protection of civilians while exploring structural reforms that can improve security outcomes nationwide.
The Commission extended its condolences to the family of the late General, the Government of Katsina State, and the Nigerian people. Dr. Ojukwu affirmed that the NHRC remains committed to monitoring the situation and to advocating for policies and actions that safeguard the right to life and security for all Nigerians.

Rwandan dies in Kuje prison
A Rwandan citizen identified as Benjamin Relasss has reportedly died in custody at the Kuje prison in Abuja, sparking allegations of medical neglect and misconduct within the facility.
According to Sahara Reports, sources alleged thatu Relasss died on Tuesday morning while awaiting trial in a financial-related case before Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court, Abuja.
Relasss had been in detention since 2023 after he was denied bail, reportedly on the grounds that he was not a Nigerian citizen. The sources further claimed that inmates requiring specialised medical attention outside the correctional facility often face difficulties in obtaining referrals for treatment. They alleged that some officials demand substantial sums of money before approving recommendations for treatment at external hospitals, despite the correctional centre’s purported lack of adequate medical equipment and specialist personnel to handle certain health conditions.
According to sources, the Kuje facility is short of adequate medical resources, with inmates requiring external treatment sometimes unable to access timely referrals. “Benjamin Relasss, a Rwandan citizen died inside Kuje Prison this morning (Tuesday) due to outright neglect and care by an overambitious and money mongering officer in the facility,” a source said. “The officer demands huge cash from inmates who are sick before allowing the patient to be recommended to hospitals outside because the Kuje facility lacks adequate equipment and medical specialists.”
“Today, the Rwandan citizen Benjamin Relasss is dead while awaiting trial on a financial-related case before Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court, Abuja,” the source added.
Another source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, alleged that inadequate access to medical care remains a serious concern at the Kuje Correctional Centre. “Yes, the Rwandan is dead. At Kuje prison, they request money before any sick person is taken to the hospital,” the source said. “In fact, there is another inmate who is critically ill and currently at the prison clinic.
They are allegedly demanding money before writing to the Chief Judge because he has only five months left on his sentence. Because there is no money, he is still lying in the clinic.” Efforts to obtain a response from the Nigerian Correctional Service on the allegations and the circumstances surrounding the death of Relasss were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
The National Spokesperson of the service, Chief Superintendent of Corrections (CSC) Jane Osuji, did not respond to phone calls or a text message sent to her.
