The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has given insight on how to identify fake admission purported tohave been issued by the Board.

The agency said that any admission not captured in its Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) is illegal, null, and void.

The Registrar of JAMB, Prof Ishaq Oloyede, made this disclosure while speaking during the 3rd matriculation ceremony of the Thomas Adewumi University (TAU) Oko, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The JAMB boss explained any admission done outside of the CAP, regardless of the institution, is fake.

Represented by an Assistant Director of JAMB, Mr. Ganiyu Yahaya, Oloyede stated that “For any admission into tertiary institutions, it has to be done through CAPS, which is on the JAMB portal.

“Any admission outside the CAPS, irrespective of the institution, is illegal. And I think this point is very important.”

The clarification may have become necessary as a result of a recent controversy between the examination body and one Mmesoma Ejikeme who forged a result to emerge highest scorer in the 2023 UTME.

The development attracted reactions from different quarters, and the Anambra State government, for this reason, set up a Committee of Inquiry to look into the case of inflation of UTME results levied against Mmesoma.

JAMB had come under fire for declaring the student’s result fake and naming her a fraud.

But the Board, through Dr. Fabian Benjamin gave out explicit explanation with facts and insisted that he result she presented was not from the portals of the agency.

Things took a dramatic turn later when Mmesoma eventually confessed to having forged her results unaided.

The panel set up by Anambra State Government to look into the matter also found her guilty of manipulation and forgery and recommended that she apologise to JAMB.

Nigeria’s security agencies have reportedly uncovered a plan by some opposition politicians to organise protests in Sokoto and other northern states against President Bola Tinubu and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.

Fresh intelligence reports made available to journalists on Friday show that former Senator Kabiru Marafa is the main arrowhead of the plot.

The group is allegedly working to discredit NSA Nuhu Ribadu and the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, by falsely linking them to bandit groups and using a Sokoto-based militia to trigger violent protests.

Sources say the Zamfara State Government, led by Governor Dauda Lawal, is strongly backing the plan and providing funding, determined to paint the federal security team as incompetent and force the removal of both Ribadu and Matawalle.

Security operatives detected the scheme this week, monitored several planning meetings in Gusau and Abuja, blocked funding channels, and quietly disrupted the operation.

No arrests have been made, but all the key figures are now under close surveillance.

The key figures are now being monitored by security agencies to track their key sources of funding.
