Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has said he expects 99 per cent support and victory for the party in the forthcoming Kogi state governorship election.

Ganduje, the immediate past governor of Kano State, spoke while addressing APC members and supporters at the official inauguration of the party’s national and state campaign councils for the November 11 governorship election.

He expressed hope that the people of Kogi State would massively vote for the ruling party because the state is a traditional APC state.

Ganduje said- “Today, we are officially inaugurating the state campaign committee that will join hands with the national campaign committee and the LGAs campaign committees to ensure victory at the polls.

“You have tested good governance from Governor Yahaya Bello’s administration, and as a party, we hope to do more with our flagbearer, Usman Ododo, once elected into office.

“Ododo is your son, whom you know very well as a very loyal and hardworking person who is ready to serve you and the state in the capacity of governor.

“We are expecting nothing less than 99 per cent victory votes from the people of Kogi in this forthcoming November 11 governorship election.”

Nigeria’s security agencies have reportedly uncovered a plan by some opposition politicians to organise protests in Sokoto and other northern states against President Bola Tinubu and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.

Fresh intelligence reports made available to journalists on Friday show that former Senator Kabiru Marafa is the main arrowhead of the plot.

The group is allegedly working to discredit NSA Nuhu Ribadu and the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, by falsely linking them to bandit groups and using a Sokoto-based militia to trigger violent protests.

Sources say the Zamfara State Government, led by Governor Dauda Lawal, is strongly backing the plan and providing funding, determined to paint the federal security team as incompetent and force the removal of both Ribadu and Matawalle.

Security operatives detected the scheme this week, monitored several planning meetings in Gusau and Abuja, blocked funding channels, and quietly disrupted the operation.

No arrests have been made, but all the key figures are now under close surveillance.

The key figures are now being monitored by security agencies to track their key sources of funding.
