The mystery of the sixth month (June) in the life of a Christian
By Nkem Okemiri
The month of June is the meeting point between the third and fourth Biblical months-Sivan and Tammuz.
Nations, states, organizations, families, and individuals may also count their sixth months from the day of their birth. All sixth months have common characteristics.
BIBLICAL PATTERNS FOR THE 6TH MONTH
Biblical patterns for understanding the sixth month are the sixth day of creation narrative, the sixth book and chapters of the Bible, the Bible books and chapters corresponding to the weeks and days in the month; and Bible passages mentioning the sixth month. The sixth month completes the first half of the year
The 6th Month is a sixth day of creation month. On the sixth day of creation, God commanded the earth to bring forth land animals (beasts, cattle, and creeping things); and then He made man in His image and after His likeness. He blessed man and gave him dominion of the other living creatures. This is a month of exercising dominion in the name of the Lord. It is a season to transcend the wicked, the crafty, and the foolish. This is a month of intense spiritual warfare.
The sixth month is a Book of Joshua month. Going through the sixth month of the year is like journeying through the sixth book of the Bible. The book of Joshua is the sixth book of the Bible and is applicable to the sixth month of the year. God gave Israel the Promised Land in the book of Joshua. He gave them dominion over the seven nations of the Canaanites. The sixth month is a season to fight for your inheritance. It is a season to drive out the enemies in your Promised Land. It is the season to possess your possessions.
The sixth month is a Song of Solomon 6 – Ezekiel 43 season. Going through the sixth month of the year is like journeying from the sixth chapter of Song of Solomon to the 43rd chapter of Ezekiel. It is the same as going from the fifth day of the 22nd week to the sixth day of the 26th week. As a prophetic season, the sixth month is Isaiah – Jeremiah – Lamentations – Ezekiel season. Isaiah is the 23rd book of the Bible and relates to the 23rd week (June 4-10). Jeremiah is the 24th book of the Bible and relates to the 24th week (June 11-17). Lamentations is the 25th book of the Bible and relates to the 25th week (June 18-24). Ezekiel is the 26th book of the Bible and relates to the 26th week (June 25 – July 1). The sixth month is a month of judgment and overthrows by the word of the Lord.
The sixth month is a Numbers 5-26 season. The fourth book of the Bible is the guiding light for the fourth 7 weeks of the year (May 28 – July 15). In a clear year, the sixth month runs from the fifth day of the fourth 49 days to the 34th day of the fourth 49 days. The sixth month falls within the fourth seven weeks of the year and expresses a significant portion of the fourth book of the Bible. The major events in the fourth book of the Bible happened within Numbers 5-26. They include the supply of manna, the prophesying 70 elders, the spying and rejection of the Promised Land, the rebellion of Korah and company, the vindication of Aaron, the failure of Moses, the death of Miriam and Aaron, the miracle of the bronze serpent, the defeat of Og and Sihon, the efforts of Balak and Balaam against Israel, and the second census. This means that we should watch against deception and overthrows. Most of the tests of the fourth seven weeks will come in the sixth month. This is a season to be watchful. Watch your thoughts and words; watch your attitude to people and circumstances.
The sixth month of the year is a sixth-seven-books-of-the-Bible month. Going through the sixth month is like going through the sixth seven books of the Bible in experiences. The sixth seven nooks of the Bible are Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi, Matthew, Mark, and Luke. It is within the sixth seven books of the Bible that you cross from the Old Testament to the New Testament. The sixth month, therefore, is a season to cross over from the old narrative to the new. It is a month of experiencing fulfillment of promises and prophecies. It is a month of going from pain to gain, from war to peace, from judgment to grace and mercy, from oppression to deliverance, from destruction to salvation, from despair to hope, and from sorrow to joy. This is a month of change of stories. It will not change from good to bad for you!
BIBLE PASSAGES THAT MENTION THE SIXTH MONTH
The Bible reveals four things about the sixth month:
It is for uncovering and unveiling secrets by the Spirit of God.
It is for getting to the root of problems
It is for repentance and returning to God.
It is a month of miracles and mysterious happenings.
- THE SIXTH MONTH IS FOR THE UNCOVERING SECRETS BY THE SPIRIT OF GOD
Ezekiel 8:1-6: And it came to pass in the sixth year, in the sixth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I sat in my house with the elders of Judah sitting before me, that the hand of the Lord GOD fell upon me there. [2] Then I looked, and there was a likeness, like the appearance of fire-from the appearance of His waist and downward, fire; and from His waist and upward, like the appearance of brightness, like the color of amber. [3] He stretched out the form of a hand, and took me by a lock of my hair; and the Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven, and brought me in visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the north gate of the inner court, where the seat of the image of jealousy was, which provokes to jealousy. [4] And behold, the glory of the God of Israel was there, like the vision that I saw in the plain. [5] Then He said to me, “Son of man, lift your eyes now toward the north.” So I lifted my eyes toward the north, and there, north of the altar gate, was this image of jealousy in the entrance. [6] Furthermore He said to me, “Son of man, do you see what they are doing, the great abominations that the house of Israel commits here, to make Me go far away from My sanctuary? Now turn again, you will see greater abominations.”
- THE SIXTH MONTH IS FOR GETTING TO ROOT OF PROBLEMS
Haggai 1:1-2, 4-6: In the second year of King Darius, in the sixth month, on the first day of the month, the word of the LORD came by Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying, [2] “Thus speaks the LORD of hosts, saying: ‘This people says, “The time has not come, the time that the LORD’s house should be built.”‘” [4] “Is it time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, and this temple to lie in ruins?” [5] Now therefore, thus says the LORD of hosts: “Consider your ways! [6] “You have sown much, and bring in little; You eat, but do not have enough; You drink, but you are not filled with drink; You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; And he who earns wages, Earns wages to put into a bag with holes.”
- THE SIXTH MONTH IS REPENTANCE AND RETURN
Haggai 1:13-15: Then Haggai, the LORD’s messenger, spoke the LORD’s message to the people, saying, “I am with you, says the LORD.” [14] So the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and worked on the house of the LORD of hosts, their God, [15] on the twenty-fourth day of the sixth month, in the second year of King Darius.
- GOD ENTERED THE WOMB OF A WOMAN IN THE SIXTH MONTH.
Luke 1:26-38: Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, [27] to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. [28] And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!” [29] But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was. [30] Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. [31] And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name JESUS. [32] He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. [33] And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.” [34] Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?” [35] And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. [36] Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren. [37] For with God nothing will be impossible.” [38] Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.

Tinubu to reconstitute NHRC board, retains Ojukwu as ES/CEO
President Bola Tinubu has written the Senate, seeking the screening and subsequent confirmation of fifteen nominees to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
The letter was read by the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio.
The letter seeks the reconstitution of the commission’s board in line with statutory provisions with the list comprising nominees from diverse professional backgrounds, including the media and legal sectors.
Among the nominees are the President, Nigeria Guild of Editors and Editor, Vanguard Newspapers, Mr. Eze Anaba; and Dr. Salamatu Hussaina Suleiman, who has been proposed as chairman of the board.
The Executive Secretary of the Commission, Dr. Anthony Ojukwu (SAN) is to retain his position as the Chief Executive Officer.
Other nominees include Mrs Roseline Tasha, Ambassador Adam Yubak Baku, ACG Felix Lawrence, Mr. Edmund Chinonye, Mr. Chinonye Obiaku (SAN), Oluwakemi Asiwaju Okere-Odo, Professor Adedeji Ogunji, Kingsley Chidozie, Mohammed Adelodu, Maupe Ogun Yusuf, and Otunba Francis Meshioye as members.
Also nominated are Patience Patrick and Hawwa Ibrahim, listed as members.
The President said the nominations were made pursuant to Section 2(3) of the National Human Rights Commission (Establishment) Act, 2010, which empowers him to constitute the board subject to Senate confirmation.
He explained that the reconstitution of the board was necessary to enhance the commission’s institutional capacity and enable it to more effectively discharge its mandate to promote and protect human rights across the country.
If confirmed, the new board is expected to play a critical role in reinforcing the NHRC’s oversight functions, particularly at a time of heightened concerns over rights protection and accountability in Nigeria.
Following the presentation of the request, the Senate referred the nominations to its Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters for screening and report within two weeks.

Breaking: EFCC investigates Pastor Jerry Eze over alleged money laundering
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has revealed that it investigated the founder of Streams of Joy International, Pastor Jerry Eze, for six months over suspected money laundering before clearing him.
Ola Olukoyede, chairman of the Commission, disclosed this on Wednesday while speaking at the Jerry Eze Foundation Business Grant Award Ceremony in Abuja.
According to him, the probe was triggered by intelligence reports and petitions after the commission observed large inflows of foreign currencies into the cleric’s domiciliary account.
“We work by intelligence, we work by petitions. At some point, I saw there was an account, a domiciliary account. Dollars, pounds were dropping in like raindrops, from Colombia, from America, from Sri Lanka, even from Togo.
“I said who is this man? Yes, I’ve been hearing about his name, I’ve seen his face a couple of times. I never bothered about what he was doing. I knew he was a pastor.
“So they said this one pastor of streams of joy, go and investigate him. So we went to the investigation. We combed the books,” Olukoyede stated.
The EFCC boss said he subsequently invited Eze for questioning after preliminary findings were compiled by investigators.
He added that upon meeting the cleric and reviewing the findings of the investigation, the commission found no wrongdoing.
“So he came to my office. He told me what happens and all of that, and how the money came, what he does, how he has been helping people, and all of that.
“I said, you know what, I didn’t call you here to explain to me. We have already done our work. I called you here to commend you,” he stated.
The remark drew applause from the audience, as Eze, who was present at the event, acknowledged the commendation.
He noted that the commission has a responsibility not only to investigate financial crimes but also to recognise individuals found to have acted with integrity.
The EFCC chairman, however, stated that the agency would continue to monitor financial activities where necessary, stressing that its preventive mandate remains critical in tackling corruption.
