Common things people say before they die- Expert

A nurse who has spent the last four years helping patients through their final moments, usually in intensive care, says there is a “spiritual shift” that happens in a persons last few hours – and they always say the same thing.

Kirstie Roberts, 29, said there are certain phrases that are common in the last few minutes. “Every single person who passes away says the same thing,” Kirstie, said. “They always say, ‘Can you please tell my family I love them?’, ‘I don’t feel good’ and ‘I know I’m going to die’.

“But how do they know? There’s a shift that happens, that’s spiritual – that nobody can explain. Their vitals may be stable, their condition may be the exact same way it was when they came in. There’s nothing inherently dangerous that’s screaming ‘This is going to kill them.’”

The ICU nurse claimed that every patient she has spent the last few moments with knew when they are going to pass. Despite her four years’ experience, she has still not found a medical explanation as to how and why they know.

Kirstie said that no matter how much medicine they give or how many tests they do, the person who says those words always dies. Kirstie said: “It never truly gets easier to deal with experiencing patients passing away. We spend a lot of time caring for patients and building relationships with them and their families.

“Over time, you learn to accept it’s a huge part of our reality in this setting, and we learn to cope with it by knowing the work we’ve done is enough. Life is inherently spiritual.

“It is not just about amassing all these things that we one day leave behind. Love the Lord, love others, and live grateful for all you have.”

Oba Kehinde Falodun, the Alagamo of Agamo community, has been murdered by suspected gunmen who stormed his palace in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The attackers, said to be about 10 in number, reportedly stormed the monarch’s residence on Wednesday evening in what residents described as an attempted abduction of the royal father and members of his household.

According to the Olori, who narrowly escaped, the gunmen initially attempted to whisk the monarch away but encountered resistance before the situation escalated.

“The bandits just came and started shooting. They were about 10. Three stayed at the entrance while others came inside. I ran into the bush. They shot at me, but it did not affect me,” she said.

She added that when the kidnappers failed to subdue the monarch, they resorted to violence.

“They kept dragging my husband, and I kept shouting for help. Later, they hit something on his head and stomach. He has been killed,” she said.

Confirming the incident on Thursday, the spokesman for the Nigeria Police Force in Ondo State, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said the command received distress information around 7:50 p.m. from a community leader.

He said about six armed men invaded the palace, forcefully took the monarch from his compound, and fled.

“The victim was later found a few metres away with gunshot wounds. He was confirmed dead at the scene,” Jimoh stated.

Operatives of the State Security Service (SSS) on Wednesday night took former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, into custody shortly after he was released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

El-Rufai had been held by the EFCC since Monday over allegations of corruption. He was granted bail around 8 p.m. on Wednesday but was immediately re-arrested by SSS operatives at the commission’s headquarters, according to witnesses.

His arrest by the SSS is reportedly connected to claims that he unlawfully intercepted the phone communications of Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

Earlier in the week, the SSS filed cybercrime charges against him at the Federal High Court in Abuja in relation to the alleged phone-tapping incident.
