Ex-President Jonathan arrives South Africa, to speak at Kenneth Kaunda Memorial Lecture Saturday

Former Nigerian President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan on Friday morning, arrived South Africa where he is scheduled to speak at the second edition of Kenneth Kaunda Memorial Lecture in Pretoria tomorrow.

Dr. Jonathan disclosed this through a Facebook post on his verified account.

He said- “I am pleased to have been warmly received early this morning at O.R. Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, by South African authorities and members of the Nigerian High Commission ahead of the Second Kenneth Kaunda Memorial Public Lecture holding in Pretoria this Saturday, where I will be speaking.

I commend the Kenneth Kaunda Children of Africa Foundation for the initiative of honouring the late sage and great Pan-Africanist in a remarkable way by endowing this annual lecture to immortalise his name.

I also thank the Centre for Policy Dialogue of Zambia and the Thabo Mbeki Foundation, who are partnering with them to ensure the success of this year’s lecture.

Defence, Aviation Ministers in Spain to strengthen Nigeria’s air surveillance and security

The Minister of Defence Mohammed Abubakar Badaru and his Aviation and Aerospace Development counterpart, Festus Keyamo are in Spain as leaders of a high-powered Nigerian delegation for crucial discussions on airspace advancements.

The move is in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive for advancing air safety and security in Nigeria.

The mission, titled “Air Surveillance for the Sovereignty, Security, and Safety of the Nigerian Airspace through Dual Use Technology (Civil and Military),” is aimed to enhance Nigeria’s air surveillance capabilities through cutting-edge dual-use technology.

The delegation was received by Jose Vicente de los Mozos, the CEO of Indra along with senior executives including Javier Ruano, VP of ATM, Luis Permuy, VP of International Sales, Emeric Osmont, Director of West Africa, Sergio Sanchez, Director for Institutional Relationships, and General (Rtd) Francisco Almerich, Former Chief of Air Defence Command Centre, Spanish Airforce.

Indra is one of the world’s leading global technology and consulting companies and the technological partner for the core business operations of its customers worldwide.

Mati Ali, Personal Assistant to the Minister of Defence on Media and Publicity in a statement sent to Nationwide Reports, said the itinerary included tours of Indra’s Headquarters, Simulator Factory, and Academy, where the delegation inspected the latest security and safety equipment, including the Indra Defense facility.

The visit featured a welcome and introductory speech by the CEO of Indra, followed by detailed presentations on the latest Air Traffic Control System (ACC APP TWR) Demo, Dual Project Scope Definition, Voice Communications System Demo, and a demonstration of Radar and Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-UAS).

The Nigerian delegation comprised high-ranking officials including; Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, Minister of Defence,Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Abdulfatai Buhari, Chairman, Senate Committee On Aviation, Abdullahi Idris Garba, Chairman, House Committee On Aviation and Air Marshall Hassan Bala Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff.
