Shame: ‘I have not seen my daughter Phyna since she won BBNaija N100m,” says father
The father of Phyna who won the 2022 BBNaija ‘Level Up’ edition grand prize of N100 million, has said that the beautiful lady abandoned family since after winning the contest.
It would be recalled that the family had stormed the BBNaija grand finale venue, to show solidarity with their reality TV star daughter.
But the family said the very day Phyna was announced winner of BBNaija season 7, in 2022 was the last time they have set their eyes on her.
The family also said Phyna neither calls nor answers her parents’ calls since she left the BBNaija house while she is seen all over social media, displaying affluence, posh and class.
Narrating his ordeal to a Vanguard reporter during the week, Phyna’s father, Mr Felix Otabor said what was disturbing him at the moment was not the fact that his daughter refused to return to them after her victory at BBNaija,, but that she had asked him to stop being an ambulance driver, with the hope that things would be better for him.
He sais- “I haven’t seen Phyna, my daughter since she won BBNaija ‘Level Up’ edition last year. She hasn’t returned home since then. I don’t know why? I am a professional hearse driver, and when she won the reality TV show, she asked me to do away with all my old cars, promising to change my life. But since then, I haven’t seen her. And I don’t have a car again. Once in a while, the Vice-Chairman of our association will allow me to drive his own car.
“I sold all my four cars because at the time, my daughter won the show, I thought that God had finally answered our prayers. I called her on the telephone, and she said God has blessed us. She asked me to do away with all my old cars, or she would give them out to Aboki, any day she returned. So, instead of allowing her to dash out my cars to scavengers, I decided to sell them as scraps and used the proceeds to renovate my house. And that was the beginning of my suffering. I stopped doing my business because I had no car again. And my neighbours thought I was either stingy or pretending as if my daughter just won a N100 million grand prize. I was the Vice-Chairman of our association, but when I couldn’t show up at our station for some time, they replaced me with another person.
“From that moment, things started getting tough for me. I am even looking for somebody that will give me a car on hire purchase. I need help, it has come to that point/. I don’t want to die in silence.’
68-year old Otobar hails from Ekpeon, in Edo State but resides in Lagos and is the father of four children.

Powerful mythical creatures in Africa
Africa is a continent of vibrant cultures, ancient wisdom, and rich folklore passed down for generations about lands or skies—guardians, tricksters, spirits, and beasts whose names still echo in oral tradition. These legends are not just myths; but are mirrors into spirituality, cosmology, and beliefs.
1. Tikoloshe: The Mischievous Spirit (Southern Africa)
The Tikoloshe is a dwarf-like water spirit from Zulu and Xhosa mythology. Often invisible to adults but visible to children, this creature is said to cause mischief or harm, especially at night. Believed to be summoned through dark magic, the Tikoloshe is both feared and used by those seeking revenge.
2. Agwu: The god of medicine and healing (Igbo, Nigeria)
Agwu is the god of medicine and healing. He is often depicted as a wise old man, with a long white beard and a staff of healing. Agwu is believed to have the power to cure diseases and ailments, and is often called upon for help in times of sickness or injury. He is also associated with divination and prophecy, and is sometimes consulted for guidance and advice.
3. Nyami Nyami – The River God (Zimbabwe)
In Tonga mythology, Nyami Nyami is the mighty serpent god of the Zambezi River. With the head of a fish and the body of a snake, Nyami Nyami was believed to protect the people and bring them sustenance. When the Kariba Dam was built in the 1950s, the locals believed the river god was angered, causing natural disasters.
4. Adze – The Vampire Spirit (Ghana & Togo)
From the Ewe people of Ghana and Togo, the Adze is a spirit that takes the form of a firefly. It enters homes at night and drinks human blood. If captured, it transforms into a human form—usually a sorcerer accused of causing harm.

Music legend Akon arrested in Georgia
Music legend and Grammy nominated singer Akon was arrested in Georgia on November 7 after a bench warrant was issued for his failure to appear in court over driving with a suspended license, authorities have confirmed.
The Chamblee Police Department arrested the 52 year old artist, whose legal name is Aliaune Thiam, after automated license plate recognition cameras alerted officers that a vehicle registered to someone with an outstanding warrant was present at Tint World, an automotive styling business on Chamblee Dunwoody Road. Akon was booked into DeKalb County Jail just after noon and released approximately six hours later after being transferred to Roswell Police custody.
The arrest stems from a September 10 incident when Roswell police responded to Akon’s Tesla Cybertruck stranded on the roadside with a dead battery. While arranging for a tow truck, the responding officer ran a check on the vehicle’s registration and discovered that Akon’s driver’s license had been suspended since January 2, 2023, due to failure to appear in court. The vehicle was impounded, and Akon received a citation for driving with a suspended license before being released from the scene.
Police reports obtained by local news outlets indicate that during the September traffic stop, officers initially found no active insurance listed for the Cybertruck, though Akon later provided proof of coverage. The report also noted that an illegal vape device was discovered in the vehicle’s center console and was seized for destruction.
Despite receiving the citation in September, Akon failed to appear for the scheduled court hearing, prompting authorities to issue a bench warrant for his arrest. When Chamblee police located him at the automotive business on November 7, the singer complied with officers’ orders and was taken into custody without incident. During the arrest, police searched Akon and found no weapons or contraband on his person, according to the incident report.
Akon was transferred from the DeKalb County Jail to Roswell Police Department custody, where he was processed and released after posting bail the same day. Authorities have not disclosed the bail amount or announced any additional charges beyond the original suspended license violation. His mugshot shows the singer wearing a black hoodie with an expressionless demeanor during booking procedures.
