Tinubu appoints Tunde Rahman, 19 others as aides

The President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu has against appointed Tunde Rahman and 19 others as special aides to assist him in his avowed commitment to reposition the country.
His is coming barely three weeks after Tinubu made some major appointments including service chiefs.
The latest appointments are mainly senior special assistants (SSAs), personal assistants (PAs), personal physician, and photographers.
Veteran journalist, Tunde Rahman, an old ally of the President, has been designated as SSA (Media) while Abdulaziz Abdulaziz is the SSA Print Media.
Others are Ibrahim Masari SSA Political; Adekunle Tinubu – Personal Physician; Damilotun Aderemi – Senior Special Assistant (Private Secretary); Toyin Subair – Senior Special Assistant (Domestic); O’tega Ogra – Senior Special Assistant (Digital/New Media); Demola Oshodi – Senior Special Assistant (Protocol); Tope Ajayi – Senior Special Assistant (Media & Public
Affairs) and Yetunde Sekoni – Senior Special Assistant.
Still on the list of appointees are Motunrayo Jinadu – Senior Special Assistant; Segun Dada – Special Assistant (Social Media); and Paul Adekanye – Special Assistant (Logistics).
Tinubu also appointed the following as iades- Friday Soton – Special Assistant (Housekeeping); Shitta-Bey Akande – Special Assistant (Catering); Nosa Asemota – Special Assistant (Visual Communication) Personal Photographer; Kamal Yusuf – Personal Assistant (Special Duties); Wale Fadairo – Personal Assistant (General Duties); Sunday Moses – Personal Assistant (Videography); and Taiwo Okanlawon – Personal Assistant (State Photographer).

Why I threatened to sack Wike- Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has revealed that he recently threatened to sack the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike Nyesom Wike, if the results of the upcoming FCT elections goes ‘too much in his favour’ and that of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Tinubu, speaking during a dinner held on Saturday evening to celebrate Eid-Al-Fitri, said that Wike had come to him seeking exemption of FCT administration from TSA to enable him achieve his set objectives without much delays
The President said he promised to see to Wike’s request but in turn asked him to ensure that his own party, the All Progressives Congress, APC did not perform badly in the coming FCT elections
He joked that he warned the minister that he would lose his Job if he did not make sure the APC emerged victorious in the FCT, which drew laughter from the crowd.

Natasha’s Recall: Six hurdles cleared, four more to go

Political contenders seeking to recall Kogi Central District Senator, Natasha Ajpoti-Uduagban, have already overcome six out of the 10 steps outlined in the constitution of the Federa Republic of Nigeria.
The six requirements already fulfilled are:
1. Collection of Signatures;
Over half of the total number of the Registered Voters in the Senatorial District have identified with the recall objective.
2. Submission of Petition:
Petition has been submitted to the Chairman of INEC and officially acknowledged.
3. Verification of Signatures:
INEC has verified the signatures to ensure they met the required threshold.
4. Notification of the Senator:
The petitioners have formally notified Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of the Recall process.
5. Meeting constitutional requirements;
Petitioners have met the constitutional requirements for a recall Process so far.
6. INEC’s preliminary review:
INEC had conducted a Preliminary Review of the Petition and Signatures.
Four More Steps to go:
1. Conduct of Referendum:
INEC will conduct a Referendum within 90 days, where Voters will decide whether to recall the Senator.
2. Verification of Referendum Results:
INEC will verify the Referendum Results to ensure their Accuracy.
3. Determination of the Outcome:
INEC will determine the Outcome of the Recall Process.
4. Notification of the Outcome:
INEC will notify Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and the Public of the Outcome.

Tinubu to immortalize Humphrey Nwosu despite senate resolution

President Bola Tinubu has stated that former chairman of defunct National Electoral Commission (NEC), Prof Humphery Nwosu would be remembered for his commitment to a democratic Nigeria.
President Tinubu stated this during the funeral service for the late Professor at St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Ajalli, Orumba North local government area of Anambra State on Friday.
Tinubu who was represented at the funeral by the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, described Prof. Nwosu as a statesman whose sojourn on earth was full of impact and inspiration.
He urged all lovers of his democratic ideals to imbibe the culture of industry, integrity, patriotism and support for the ideals of democracy which were the hallmarks of his public service.
President Tinubu, in a statement by the Special Adviser Media to the Minister, Barr. Orji Uchenna Orji, consoled with the family, government and people of Anambra State on the departure of the former NEC chairman.
“As we mourn the death of Prof Humphery Nwosu, we are invited to celebrate him for his profound accomplishments and personal fulfilments as a public administrator, political scientist, and academics icon.
“We are urged to reflect on his democratic ideals and his sense of commitment to a democratic Nigeria. These are the hallmarks of his life and times that will be cherished beyond this generation,” Tinubu said.
He expressed the unwavering commitment of his Renewed Hope administration in revolutionising the development of the critical sectors of the economy that would stimulate economic growth and national development.
“May I assure Nigerians that the fragile economy we inherited is now alive and on a path of sustainable growth. We have overcome the worst. Our democracy is growing, and I assure Nigerians that my administration will continue to deepen the democracy benefits for the good of all Nigerians,” he assured.
